This is what Masdar City will eventually look like...

I am Brian Warshay. Welcome to my blog!

I graduated from Cornell University in 2006 majoring in Natural Resources and Environmental Engineering Technology. For the last three years I have worked as an environmental consultant at Malcolm Pirnie (2 years in Fort Lauderdale and 1 in Boston).

In the summer of 2009 I was admitted into the Masdar Institute of Science & Technology in Abu Dhabi, UAE for a two year masters program Engineering Systems and Management (http://www.masdar.ac.ae/Menu/Index.aspx?MenuID=7&CatID=48&mnu=Cat).  This university is the centerpiece of the new Masdar City, a zero net carbon, sustainable city under construction about 5 miles outside of Abu Dhabi. The goal of the university is to promote sustainability and renewable energy.

This blog is to track my travels and education from 2009 to when I hope to graduate in 2011.  Any questions do not hesitate to contact me at bashay48@gmail.com. There is also a link to my Picasa picture albums in the Link box on the right.

  5. Hello Brian,
My wife, Josette, and I are friends of your parents. They came to our home for dinner this evening and told us about your blog. We all (your Mom, Dad, me and Josette) really enjoyed reading of your many adventures. We have a grandson that is working on his Ph.D. in NeuroSciences at American U in DC. He’s a teaching assistant like you and has a full paid package of tuition, living expenses, a place to live….. I plan to continue to monitor your activities. Incidently, I am a member of the Board of Trustees of Underwriters Laboratories where environmental issues are our newest area of focus. UL Environment is being launched from our UL office in Geneva. Later on in your studies I’d be happy to help you make contact with them if you’re interested.
    Warm regards,
    Mark Hurwitz

    Hi Brian

Thanks for your blog, I found it most interesting. I wonder if I could ask you some questions about Masdar Institute? I can’t see a way to email you directly so I left a comment here. If you don’t mind answering a few questions then please give me a shout back at the above address.

    Good luck with your studies!

  11. Hi Brian, I was searching about Masdar Institute coz my cousin wants to enroll in it for his Masters. I came across your interesting blog. I would like to inquire a bit more about Masdar directly from the students, so thats how I found your blog. Can I have your personal Email in order to communicate further.
